The Nebraska Chamber of Commerce & Industry, in cooperation with the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce, will present its annual legislative forum Monday, October 1, 2012.
Conducted by State Chamber staff, the forums are held every autumn to gather input from the business community on issues of concern. Members of the State Chamber and local chambers of commerce, as well as members of the news media, are encouraged to attend. State senators in each legislative district have been invited.
This year’s forums will focus on the Legislature’s 2012 session, including developments in the areas of economic development, labor law, highway funding and taxation. The forums will examine key issues expected to emerge in 2013, while also giving participants a glimpse at how Nebraska fares in national economic competitiveness rankings.
State Chamber President Barry L. Kennedy said: “The economy and jobs continue to be the most pressing issues facing lawmakers and employers. These forums provide a timely opportunity to learn about this year’s important developments at the Nebraska Legislature, as well as discuss where the state needs to go from here.”
